Allow files to be uploaded to your computer, by you or your friends, from anywhere.
There are Opera Unite services that allow you to share your content from your computer, but this service works the other way around. With File Uploader, content can be put into a folder on your computer.
Do you want to take those videos you recorded at lunch break back home? No need for USB drives; just upload them to your File Uploader service on your home computer. Are you collaborating on a document? Your colleagues can upload their edited versions to your computer.
kcameron, yes, for Unite to work, the computer that is running the service, e.g. the File Uploader, need to be on. If it was on, it might have been some other problem, e.g. the proxy not working properly.
Hi there, I am new to the file uploader service so please excuse me if this question is ridiculous. Just installed yesterday and it was working fine but overnight the service became unavailable. Does my computer need to be on all the time? I need it to be up and running 24/7 - how do I ensure this?
hzr, thanks for the info! I'll give it a try tonight!
EDIT: I'm also having a hard time accessing the admin part of this service, where you can change privacy settings and passwords, etc. I can access it fine from the outside, as a visitor would, but not from the inside. Ideas?
How do you set the password on this service? I install it, and it immediately goes to the sign-in page after installing without giving me the option to set the password. I have no idea what I am doing wrong
JMPetersen, I don't really know, haven't used the Document Courier much. You can set any size for the upload folder though, and you can upload several files at the same time. If someone uploads something, you will also get a notification of this. Also, in the admin section, you can see all uploaded files, and delete them if you want.
