Stream media

by avenu

Stream media online from your own computer with Opera Unite! Audio, video and etc.

Make your own media tube with Opera Unite! Stream video and audio to your friends right in browser. They don't need to download files, just watch them online.

Press "Play" to stream online or press on file name to download it!

Supported formats: flv, mp3, swf, aif, aiff, aac, au, bmp, gsm, mov, mid, midi, mpg, mpeg, mp4, m4a, psd, qt, qtif, qif, qti, snd, tif, tiff, wav, 3g2, 3gp, ra, ram, rm, rpm, rv, smi, smil, asx, asf, avi, wma, wmv

Hint: for best compatibility with operating systems and browsers convert your video to FLV format and audio to MP3 format. In other cases Stream media uses built-in media players, such as Windows Player, Real Player, Quicktime and etc.

Known issues:some formats (e.g. AVI) in some players (e.g. Windows Player) will not be played until they downloaded fully.

Version 2.0 - wait for design. Main features:
- Stats (wow)
- Passworded pages (wow-wow)
- Ogg music support (wait-wait-wait, is that true?!?! o_O)

OK, this is pretty damn cool. I do have to say that I am disappointed that Opera didn't include Ogg Vorbis support.

opal23, plz tell more about your idea.

By avenu, # Oct 17, 2009 11:02:42 AM

I experienced that "Stream media" is close to "Media Player":
In both applications the client selects a file and pulls it.
I rather expected "Stream media" to push files from the server, which would be a simple way to build my own web radio station.

make page "passworded" just like every other "sharing" service. So Pages can be "restricted" or open too everyone

OK! Now (1.6) it works! Thank you very much!

PowerPeter, what do you mean? You should show to Stream media application folder, where all your media files exist.

By avenu, # Oct 15, 2009 1:36:04 PM

the player could not find the stream / video on my own machine.

By PowerPeter, # Oct 15, 2009 2:15:01 AM

Great! Now working pretty well. Only issue I have is that there is no control to close the video after playback. The result is that the video remains on the screen after playing and stays there while next video is being played.

Hi guys!

Until Opera team will upload fixed version 1.6, you can download it's copy here:
http://www.box.net/shared/ohzos58zj4

Save downloaded file somewhere at drive, then choose this file from drive and drag&drop it straight in browser.

Looking forward to new release.

I tried to fix it myself, but it didn't work.

1. First I tried to find where the application is hidden -- it's' not in
unite folder, but in widgets now ?
2. Scripts can be easily modified, but if you try to install this new
app, it won't work

I assume that it has some ID assigned + md5 checksum if application was changed ?

Looks like I need to wait for new release :-)

slow-v, thanks for comments, but you know, this service is free, opera unite is still beta, but you want that it should work perfectly. But this error is not my - Opera changed API without any warning, that is why version 1.5 of service is not working for new builds. On the other side, I don't have much time to fix all bugs, that worked before new version of unite. Please be well-mannered, I don't receive any money for this service, it's my hobby.

Guys, actually I uploaded version 1.6, that fixes main problem, but more big changes still will be in 2.0. Plz update service regulary. Version 1.6 will be at site after approving by Opera company.

This does not work. I have tried video converted to FLV and audio to Mp3 both show an error message. You appear to acknowledge there is a problem but have done nothing. I suggest it is withdrawn until you test it properly and get it working. We still await a new version!

By slow-v, # Sep 14, 2009 2:46:45 PM

this service is not working for me, I get a "Video not found:" message all the time, even with flv files
