This is a prototype of an OpenID provider running as an Opera Unite service. You have a unique identifier (a URL) and a single password, which you use to log in to many services, called Relying Parties (RP), on the Web. When that URL is dereferenced by a RP, it talks to the OpenID provider and asks it to ensure that you own the identifier.
By running the OpenID provider as an Opera Unite service, you do not have to trust an external provider (e.g. myopenid.com) to manage your identity. You can, in fact, start the Opera Unite OpenID provider only when you need to identify yourself on the Web, whereas myopenid.com is always on, and is controlled by the people running the site.
How to use it: See the README file inside the package.
SECURITY Using this widget other than for testing purposes is DANGEROUS, as it has not gone through much QA, and there are probably bugs that open security breaches. One known issue is that while your service is running, someone could use your openID URL on their browser, and you would not necessarily realize that they're logging on.
this is pretty cool...i am just trying to figure out this whole open id thing out, but this doesnt seem to allow me to sign in with any websites, maybe i am doing something wrong?
