Access your complete home music library from wherever you are.
Run the Opera Unite Media Player at home and access your entire music library from anywhere you might be. No need to duplicate your music on different machines.
Note: Please respect artists. Only share content if you have the right to do so.
This is a really great and useful application along with Unite Media Player widget.
I do have quite large feature request though: Index the whole library to allow searching (there was a search functionality in early versions, but this was simply filesystem based and it was right decision to remove it). I think all other necessary features are there already. For inspiration Winamp, foobar2000 and Guayadeque Music Player make nice example (as these handle large collections very well and have smart search). I praise the one who made UI for Media Player (and the widget), spot-on!
Thank you for solving my problems for me (no need to for me to manually make a web server through some vpn (as my ports are closed) along with client frontside).
I just heard about Opera Unite yesterday while watching Tekzilla. I have it installed at home so I'm pretty new to it.
Can someone tell me what the difference is between Media Player and Streaming Media? I can't get Media Player to work but Streaming works just fine, is there something I can't do with Steaming that Media Player can do?
I don't consider the previous poster's solution as a fix because I don't want to downgrade version.
But on a similar note, I found that an uninstall of Opera 10.5, and a subsequent reinstall of 10.50 will fix the 404. I think it reverts the Opera unite applications back to an older version.
With that being said, I was playing with fresh installations, so I'm not sure which configurations and settings would be lost in the reinstall process.
I fixed the 404 error with this and all my other Unite apps.
How? Uninstall Opera 10.50, and also use Windows file search to find & delete all the leftover Opera files that uninstall should have removed but didn't. Then install Opera 10.10 and everything works like it should.
Can you please add support for more file types, like .flac and .ogg? Another thing I really miss is the ability to import more than one location on the computer. I have my music saved in 3 locations, but I can only open 1 at a time.
Is it possible to display cover art pictures from image file, and not only from id3 tags? My whole music library is set up like that (with "cover.jpg" in every album directory), and I have got no embedded id3 artwork at all.
I have a fix for the player listing songs in alphabetical order by track title instead of numerical order by track number.
If your file's ID3 tag contains a Disc Number field entry, the Unite Media Player defaults to alphabetical listings. If you eliminate the Disc Number entries from ID3 tags, then the player reverts to proper track number listings.
I use the free Mp3tag utility (http://www.mp3tag.de/en/) to edit ID3 tags in big batches. Just highlight all (ctrl-A), delete the Discnumber field on the left side bar, and save (ctrl-S).
For albums w/ multiple discs, I use 3-digit track numbers in both metadata and filenames, such as 1xx for Disc 1 songs, 2xx for Disc 2 songs, etc. This precludes the need for a Discnumber field to remember what disc the track was a part of.
also a small playlist

really great application, i love it.
It would be really nice if there was a function to sort the track-listing using mp3-tags, eg. track-nr. + cd-nr. etc.
